                              Wreck   Diving   Cozumel   &   Cancun

                              WRECK 

                              We offer wreck diving on the island of Cozumel, We adapt the day prior reservation to do a dive in the Mexican gunboat.

                              In June 2000, Mexico won the Navy and sank the gunboat C-53 Felipe Xicoténcatl to form an artificial reef south of Chankanaab, the wreck is submerged between 18 and 24 m deep.

                              This vessel was a mine sweeper for the U.S. Navy during World War II.

                              Originally built in Tampa at the Wilson Marine Shipworks in 1944. Measuring 184 feet long, 33 feet wide and 40 feet high from keel to the top of the super structure, this ship was put into service as mine sweeper for the US Navy as SCUFFLES.

                              In 1962 she was sold to the Mexican Navy, converted to an Admiral Class gun boat and named and numbered FELIPE XICOTANCATL C-53. From 1962 to 1999 she patrolled the Gulf of Mexico and the Mexican Caribbean sea serving in rescue missions and patrolling for illegal arms and drugs.

                              After 55 years of service C-53 was decommissioned and later donated to Cozumel underwater park. C-53 was sunk in 1999 in 82' of water just off shore from Chankanaab Park

                              Cancun Wrecks

                              C-55 USS (AM 283) renamed ARM Lieutenant Juan de la Barrera C-55, WAS sunk in Cancun, Mexico in the year 2000 for diving purposes. Today it is home of Thousands of Inhabitants of the ecosystem That Develops here.

                              C-58 USS Harlequin (AM 365) WAS named General Pedro Maria Anaya ARM C-58. Thereis a confusion Now With The A08 boat "Aldebaran" a school ship and the C-58 But theGeneral Anaya WAS only sunk in Cancun for scuba diving purposes. As of 2007 AldebaranRemain in active Service with the Mexican Navy is the C-58 Used as an artificial reef fordiving.The C-58 Lays in Cancun's ocean floor in two pieces Divided, Stern and Bow.
